It could be time to hunker down for a serious binge-watch as Netflix has revealed that all the whole Twilight series will return to the platform next month.

Netflix posted the news to Twitter, also revealing a good-looking selection of other films that will be hitting the streaming service in August including 13 Going on 30, The Mask, the original Jumanji, American History X and Deep Impact.

Consisting of five films in total - Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part one (2011) and two (2012) - the franchise is based on the hugely popular books by Stephenie Meyer.

Starring Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, the saga tells the romantic tale of human teenager Bella Swan (Stewart) and vampire, Edward Cullen (Pattinson).

The movies proved to be an astronomical commercial success, grossing over £2.6 billion in worldwide receipts, so it’s no surprise that Netflix have decided to list them again after originally signing them up back in 2018.

In other Twilight news, Stephenie Meyer, has announced the release of a new book, due out this summer.

Speaking on Good Morning America, the author said: "I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on Saturday 4th August.

"It's a crazy time right now and I wasn't sure it was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so so long it didn't seem right to make you wait any more.”

The new book in the Twilight series is apparently written from Edward Cullen’s (played by Robert Pattinson in the movie franchise) perspective rather than Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) as is the norm in the other titles.

Meyer had put writing the latest instalment on hold back in 2008 after 12 chapters were leaked.

She did post a partial draft for fans to read online, but had never announced a release date  - even though fans have been desperate former to release the book in full.

Since the first Twilight book was released in 2005 - with follow ups, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn - the series has sold in excess of 100 million copies worldwide and been adapted into a hugely successful film franchise, grossing roughly £2.6 billion in ticket sales.

But, a true mark of success, the story has of course become the inspiration for a world famous meme that I won’t go into but I’m sure you’ve seen in numerous social media comments threads…

The new Twilight book, Midnight Sun, will be released on August 4th 2020.
