Thank you for supporting transformative Sustainability Work!

Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) is an education and sustainability charity and part of the National Union of Students family working to take urgent sustainability work further and faster. Students that sign up to TOTUM are given the option to donate £1 to support our work and to date, over 8,500 have donated to SOS-UK to support climate action!

So, we want to say a huge thank you to those who have donated and to share how your money has been spent.

We are in a climate and ecological crisis - we need to ensure people everywhere are equipped with knowledge, skills, attributes and values to be able to adapt to and thrive in a changing world and contribute to a more sustainable and just future. And that's exactly what we do. At SOS-UK, we deliver accreditation programmes, projects, workshops, campaigns and share resources to support students to learn about and lead on sustainability to take climate action. Our work supports change in individual, institutional and systemic levels and covers a range topics including sustainable agriculture and farming, Education for Sustainable Development, sustainable behaviours in a myriad of workplaces, sustainability and wellbeing, activism and political engagement for sustainability, student leadership for climate action and more. Your donations make it possible for us to subsidise two of our key programmes: Teach the Future and the Learning Academy.

Teach the Future is a student-led UK-wide campaign to re-orientate and repurpose the education system for the climate emergency. Our costs include hiring 11 student staff to support volunteers and facilitating direct action events including strikes and demonstrations. When you donate £1 to support SOS-UK, your money is used to progress systemic and institutional change to tackle climate emergency.

Through our Learning Academy, we offer a range of workshops and trainings that support students, educators, charities, councils and more. to explore topics in sustainability and how to take action - including monitoring and evaluating projects, how to begin decolonising and decarbonising work, carbon literacy, embedding sustainability in learning and many more. Our costs include staff time for developing and delivering the workshops. Donations through TOTUM continue to prove that many students are not only concerned by the climate emergency, but are willing to support work to tackle it. Your support motivates us to continuing to progress urgent and transformative sustainability work. Thank you.
