Samsung has designed new eco-friendly packaging to encourage customers to upcycle their cardboard TV boxes for 'creative reuse’ - including as a cat house!

Samsung makes another significant step towards sustainability, with eco-friendly recyclable cardboard packaging.

The new eco-friendly cardboard boxes are being introduced across Samsung's The Serif TV and Sero TV, in 'efforts to reduce the environmental footprint'.

The packaging is made from eco-friendly corrugated cardboard, meaning the boxes are super easy to recycle - but even better for upcycling!

And in extra good news, don’t forget that TOTUM members can enjoy up to 15% off TVs when shopping on Samsung Student Shop Online!

According to Samsung’s website: "Samsung has applied a dot matrix design on each side of its eco-friendly corrugated cardboard boxes, allowing customers to cut the boxes more easily and assemble them into various other uses, such as small end tables or houses for pets.

"Included within the packaging is a manual to guide customers on how to make household items out of the cardboard boxes, which can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the box.

"Owners of The Serif who tend to put shelves and furniture around the TV can build cat houses, magazine racks and even shelves from the cardboard boxes to store household items and electronic devices, including the remote control.”

Kangwook Chun, Executive Vice President and Head of Product Strategy Team of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said: "Consumers are more likely to purchase from a brand that shares similar fundamentals and values as they do, and with our eco-packaging, we believe that we can provide our customers with a new experience that considers the environment as an important way to express themselves.”

But it doesn’t end there - with the rapid changes we’ve all had to make as a result of the coronavirus pandemic people are having to adapt quickly to new ways of working, doing our bit to help slow the spread of the virus.

And students are no different - with the vast majority now having to complete their studies from home, meaning being able to work remotely is more important than ever.

To help people adapt to these new ways of working, Samsung have launched their 'Home. Not alone' campaign to encourage people to stay connected with those they care about while social distancing measuers remain in place.

Samsung and TOTUM have teamed up to help make working under these new conditions as easy as possible with 15% exclusive student discount for a limited time only on mobile, tablet and wearable products - including the new Galaxy S20 Series and Galaxy Z Flip!

“Nowadays, more and more consumers are interested in protecting the environment,” explained designer Daehee Yoon. “With eco-packaging, they could realise environmental protection simply by purchasing goods like they usually would. That was the idea that drove us.”
