It seems that the show currently leaving people sleeping with the lights on  - The Haunting of Bly Manor - has crossed from the realms of fiction into reality…

Fans of the highly-acclaimed horror series have picked up on an interesting little twist after working out that if you call the number in the advert for a new nanny, Flora - aka Creepy Girl - will answer your call.

One inquisitive person who tried out the number was Kayleigh Scott, who said: "Anyone who's watched The Haunting of Bly Manor, have you tried calling the number in the ad to apply for the Nanny job?! (It's answered by Flora). This is creepy and quite cool!!"

Netflix had previously shared the advert to its Twitter account before the show was released inviting people to apply for the au pair position that is taken by Dani Clayton, p[layed by Victoria Pedretti.

Apparently after just one ring, Flora will answer the phone, saying: "Hi, you've reached the Wingrave family at Bly Manor - we're not here right now.

"If you're calling about the open nanny position, interviews will be conducted by our uncle Henry in five days. It will be perfectly splendid. We can't wait to meet you.”

A follow-up to the massively successful The Haunting of Hill House, the new show is already winning plaudits from viewers with the general consensus seeming to be that the new series is as good as, if not better than, the first.

Set in the 1980s, the storyline is based on Henry James's 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw.

And while fans have generally been blown away, there is one tiny element of the show that seems to be getting under the skin of fans…

An overabundance of the phrase ‘perfectly splendid’ is riling people everywhere, with Little Flora played by nine-year-old Amelie Bea Smith the worst culprit.

Posting on Twitter one person asked: "How many times is this little girl gonna say 'perfectly splendid'?"

Someone else posted: "The Haunting of Bly Manor has me saying, 'perfectly splendid' in almost every sentence and it's hard to stop."

Another joked: "Y'all started The Haunting of Bly Manor yet? On edge already and it's only episode one. Ain't nothing 'perfectly splendid' about how high my blood pressure is man…"

And even the official The Haunting of Bly Manor Twitter account has gotten in on the joke, posting: “It's perfectly splendid to see our old friends, back together again.”

And another tweet saying: “Do you like games? Fill your glass every time Flora says ‘perfectly splendid’.

Also shocking viewers is the realisation that young Amelie also plays the voice of non-other than kids tv superstar, Peppa Pig!

Taking to social media, one person wrote: "The girl who played Flora voiced Peppa Pig? excuse me I can’t." While someone else quipped: "Flora is Peppa Pig and it's perfectly splendid.”
