Actor Conchata Ferrell, best known for playing Berta in hit sitcom Two and a Half Men, has sadly died aged 77.

Conchata passed away on Monday, October 12th, with her family by her side at Sherman Oaks Hospital in California following complications from a cardiac arrest she had suffered earlier in the year.

In July in this year, Conchata’s husband, Arnie, revealed that she had suffered a heart attack in May that had put her in intensive care for the best part of a month, before being transferred to a long-term treatment centre.

As well as her role in Two and a Half Men - a role that earned her two Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2005 and 2007 - Conchata also featured in the sixth season of LA Law.

She appeared in over 200 episodes of Two and a Half Men spanning a 12-year period between 2003 and 2015, starring alongside Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, Charlie Sheen and Ashton Kutcher.

Paying tribute to his co-star Cryer said: “She was a beautiful human. Berta’s gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty’s warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths.

“I’m crying for the woman I’ll miss, and the joy she brought so many.”
