In what could be just the news you need to hear to brighten up a wet Monday morning, it turns out that not only is Zac Efron releasing a new travel docuseries - it’s Netflix in July!

Yep, although it’s raining outside, Down to Earth with Zac Efron is on its way to bring some sunshine to our lives.

Accompanied by wellness expert Darin Olien, the series features Zac travelling round the world visiting places including France, Puerto Rico, Iceland, London, Costa Rica, Lima, Sardinia, and Iquitos to learn about sustainable living.

Zac said: “We're travelling around the world to find some new perspectives on some very old problems. Food, water and energy are all the main staples for modern life. We're going to see some top eco innovators to see how change is an inside job. And we're going to be eating really, really well.

"We need to start rethinking how we consume everything, from our food to our power. Change has to start somewhere. Maybe it's about time we all changed. It's time to get down to earth."

On his travels, Zac encounters a whole host of fascinating eco-innovations, samples some unusual food, including insects and 'dung-smoked' delicacies and meets eco-pioneers working to lessen human impact on the planet.

To be fair to Zac, he has been very vocal about bringing in change to help the environment for some time now.

In April he joined the Discovery Channels's Great Global Cleanup special to shine a light on the next generation of climate activists and what they are doing to clean up the planet.

The special featured different locations around the globe, including the beach in Efron’s hometown, where groups of individuals and volunteers try to clean up damage from climate change and humans.

And recently, on World Earth Day, the actor wrote a lengthy post on his social media to commemorate the occasion.

“Happy Earth Day! I have always been in awe of the magic and mystery of Mother Nature. Exploring the unknown has always been a true passion in my life and now, more than ever, I realize how important it is to take care of our planet, our people and every living thing we share it with. Please be safe, be healthy and be kind to one another.”

Down to Earth with Zac Efron hits Netflix on Friday July 10th.
