Interning can be an essential step to climbing the career ladder, but who says you can’t have a change of scenery while you do it?
Standing out as a candidate can be tricky work, especially if you’re in a popular field - but it’s the measures you take to make your experience unique that really make an ideal applicant.
Internships are one of the best ways to amplify your skills and experience and what you take from those experiences can be some of the most valuable moments of your career. Whether it’s finance, fashion, law or the sciences that you want to specialise in, there are thousands of opportunities out there to add more knowledge to your arsenal.
Not only that, Internships are a great way to get experience in a different country and expand your horizons in a new environment. Our top choice right now is China – which may soon overtake the US as the world’s largest economy, adding a ton of value to your experience.
Generation UK is offering the chance to intern in China for two whole months. You can choose from top cities in China: Beijing, Chengdu, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. The placements run throughout the year, and there are plenty of industries to choose from, with areas such as IT, legal, marketing, hospitality, engineering and design.
Not only that, Generation UK will fund your placement fees, accommodation, comprehensive travel insurance, and airport transfer. On top of that, you’ll also have access to Mandarin lessons to give you the ultimate experience during your time there. Sounds perfect already, right? All you’ll have to cover are your flights and living costs - as well as any exploring you’d like to do while you’re out there. If you’re over 18, a UK/EU passport holder, a full-time student at a UK university or have graduated from a UK University within the past year, are on track to achieve or have achieved a 2:1, and meet the student finance criteria, you’re eligible to apply for the 2019 placements. More information on the eligibility can be found here.
Generation UK was launched by the British Council in 2013. By 2020, it aims to help 80,000 students from the UK boost their employability, enhance their long-term job prospects, and develop a global mind-set through study and work experience opportunities in China. The Generation UK campaign is supported by all four UK government administrations. Want to take your internship experience to the next level?
