Your Old Disney Videos Could Now Be Worth £14,000 On Ebay
Get up in that attic and dig out your old Disney VHS, as it turns out you could be sitting on an absolute fortune!
That’s right, our old childhood favourites like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Lion King are currently changing hands on eBay for some pretty astronomical amounts of money.
One set of 10 original Disney video tapes are currently going for just shy of £14,000 on the auction site. Including classics such as Robin Hood, Cinderella, Aladdin and Beauty & The Beast, this impressive collection also boasts the lesser-known (yet equally iconic) The Great Mouse Detective and The Rescuers: Down Under.
It’s worth noting that this particular collection is part of the rare ‘Black Diamond tapes’, released by Disney between 1984 and 1993.
But it’s not only collections that are selling for big bucks - there’s an edition of The Little Mermaid being sold on its own with a 'Buy it now' price of £7,900. Not too bad at all.
According to the seller, it’s a rare 'first issue’ with a cover that was discontinued, hence the lofty price tag.
So, if you’ve scratched around in the loft and have managed to dig out a few of your old vids how can you be sure whether they’re worth flogging or not?
Well, all you’ve got to look out for is ‘The Classics’ logo in the upper spine of the case which - helpfully - has a black diamond round the outside.
But even if your tapes aren’t super rare, don’t worry - another collection is being sold without the 'Black Diamond' bragging rights and that's going for a cool £4,580, which is certainly not to be sniffed at!
Of course the VHS cassettes going for top dollar are in tip-top condition, but again, just because yours are a little rough around the edges don’t write them off.
Worst case scenario you’ve got a load of awesome old films that you can watch with future generations and enjoy all over again!
