STUDENTS AND THE HIDDEN COST OF BEING ID’D
TOTUM survey data revealed the surprising realities of ID culture among young people in the UK. Key findings included:
30% of people leave home without their wallet every day, yet 61% have concerns about digital ID security — a tension that speaks to a wider cultural shift in how we carry and prove our identity.
21% of young people have avoided a purchase because they were worried about being asked for ID.
10% of 18–24 year olds have been asked for ID when buying scissors.
The age group most likely to carry ID consistently? 32–41 year olds, level with 18–24 year olds at 36%.
