'Big Toe Shoes' Are Now A Thing, And No One's Sure What to Think

Feet... some people love them and some people hate them.
Well, there's no going back now, whatever your preference as French fashion label, Y Project, revealed possibly one of their biggest successes, or biggest mistakes, at their spring summer runway this year.
Models' toes were all out, exposed to the world by deadly 'Big-Toe Shoes', as Refinery29 calls them.
These heels hide away the majority of your feet if you're feeling self-conscious, yet leave a little gap just for your big toe to have its moment in the spotlight.
Now, to be honest we're a bit unsure of how to feel about this... but when you actually look at some recent fashion history, it turns out big toes have been getting a lot more attention than you'd think.
Maison Margiela's closed-toe Tabi boots, which look a bit like camel feet, have been around since the 1980s and came back into fashion when they made a comeback on Vetements' autumn winter show last year.
Although your toes are covered, the shape still accentuates the shape of them, which might/might not be a good thing - we just don't know!
More modest toe-strap sandals, a much more understated version of the 'big toe heels' also leave your toe feeling fancy and strapped in place while your other toes wiggle free.
Being sold by big brands like ASOS and Topshop, these seem to take the favour as they're rather popular in South Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Africa.
To be honest, these do make more sense, as exposed toes are no surprise in sandals - but in high heels???
Eccentric fashion lovers may have just found their latest trend though, and if you see someone trotting around in a pair of these, you know they're loaded because they currently come at a price of £790.
If it's not really your kind of thing, remember Y Project are also responsible for bringing about thigh-high Ugg boots and detachable jeans, which proved themselves as big successes for the company.
Big Toe Heels might just be the next sensation...
Please, if you're a clumsy person who finds themselves effing and blinding all about the house because of stubbing toes on almost anything, this might not be the fashion piece for you - it's quite literally a danger hazard.
