It was a tough one to take when McDonald’s was forced to close the doors of its restaurants following the coronavirus outbreak.

Many of us probably woke up on Sunday morning after a big night in at the virtual pub with a hankering for a classic hangover Maccies breakfast, but alas it wasn’t to be.

Well, it seems like we may have been thrown a lifeline as McDonald's has now revealed how us lowly mortals can recreate its iconic Sausage and Egg McMuffin in our own kitchens!

The fast food fave has shared a recipe card that details exactly how to make the breakfast item and the best part is you’ll probably have most of the ingredients in!

so, without further ado, here’s what you’ll need to create your very own patented hangover cure; English muffins, sausage meat, eggs, cheese slices and potato.

All you have to do then is follow the instructions below. And if you really feel like taking it to the max, they’ve kindly included a recipe for a hash brown. You may as well right?

English muffin - Toast this until golden brown.

75g sausage meat - Season with a pinch of salt and pepper then shape into balls. Flatten into patty shapes and cook under a pre-heated grill for six to seven minutes on each side (or as per instructions on packaging).

Eggs - Brush the inside of a metal ring with a little oil and place in a small frying pan.

Pour in just enough water to cover the base then bring to the boil. Crack the eggs into the rings, cover the pan and cook for two to three minutes.

American Cheese Slice - Assemble your McMuffin by layering the patty and egg on top of a slice of cheese.

Potato - To make a hash brown, grate the potato into a bowl. Mix in an egg then season with salt and pepper. Heat a glug of oil in a pan then add a spoonful of the mix. Flatten and cook until golden brown on both sides.

Always refer to cooking instructions provided on manufacturers' packaging, and check food is piping hot throughout before serving, ensuring no pink meat remains before serving.
